       Driving without a licence...

It is a requirement on any road in the UK that the driver has a driving licence issued by the DVLA or a foreign country.  Failure to do so will invalidate any policy of insurance in place and often make you guilty of both failing to have in force a valid insurance policy as well as driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

There are very few defences available as clients usually have a licence or they do not.  However there may have been extra-ordinary circumstances that arose such as emergency or the intention was to drive a very short distance (moving a car from the road to a driveway).  In those circumstances, you may be able to argue that there are 'special reasons' for not giving you penalty.  As one of the most experienced  motoring defence lawyers in the Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk area, Marcus Croskell has the expertise to assess your case and determine whether you have a defence.  If you have a court date and would like some advice and assistance on what constitutes ’special reasons', Marcus Croskell can be contacted for an initial FREE legal enquiry by EMAIL HERE or on 0843 886 2603 quoting reference:

The penalty is between 3 and 6 penalty points on your driving record and a fine up to £1,000.  Even if you have never had a licence, the DVLA create a record for you and the points remain against your name as if you had a licence.

I have licence from my home country...

If you are not from the UK or EU, you may drive in this country for period of time before you are required to take a test and obtain a UK issued licence.  However, there may be certain circumstances where your status in this country means that this is not required.  Each person is different and Marcus Croskell can explore the issues on your behalf to get the best result possible.

       Defending your driving licence...

Marcus Croskell can help you evaluate the way to get the most cost-effective result and get your case ready for trial.  This may involve preparing for a special reasons argument and advising on what witnesses to call (or not to call as they may damage you case).  Not every case can be resolved without a plea or finding of guilty.  However, this can be prepared for to make sure you avoid a period of disqualification or wish to reduce the financial penalty.
